Shirley Jean Silkowski, 77, of Greeneville, died peacefully at her home Thursday in the presence of her children and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years: Stanley Silkowski; her parents: George and Carrie Cummings; a brother: Frances Cummings; and a sister: Betty Riggelman.
She is survived by a daughter: Karen Johnson of Greeneville, a son: Roy Ambrose of Keysville, Va., a daughter: Robbin Olshefski of Greeneville, a son: Brian Ambrose of Wilmington. Del., and a son: Ike Ambrose of Watertown, N.Y., and their respective spouses: Christopher Johnson, Kathryn Ambrose, Bernie Olshefski, Beth Ambrose, and Penny Ambrose. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Keith Yosco, Edward and Robert Olshefski, and Christopher and Aimeé Ambrose; and by her brother: Ronald Cummings and wife, Ina, and their son: Mark, his wife, Carlie, and their daughter: Ava Sophie.
Known as "Silky" to her friends, she was an operating room scrub technician for 30 years.
Once retired, she went to Sam's Club as a "Demo Lady" part time until her retirement there in 2009.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Susong Memorial Church, 1373 Susong Memorial Road, Greeneville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Foundation.
