Barbara W. Makris, age 80, of Chuckey, passed away Friday at Life Care Center of Greeneville from complications of Alzheimer's.
She was dearly loved by all her family and will be sorely missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward McQueen Ward and Hattie Estelle Bivins, and a great-grandson, Salem Corrado.
Mrs. Makris was a bookkeeper and accountant for more than 40 years, and her greatest joy was to be with family, especially our children and grandchildren, visiting together at our small farm in Virginia Beach, Va.
Her other pleasures included gardening, photography, flying, cooking, genealogy, reading, writing, and traveling.
Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years: James Makris; three daughters: Kathy Grant and husband, Jason, of Greeneville, Alicia McGuire and husband, Michael, of Coatesville, Pa., and Tammy Berkebile and husband, Ronald, of Virginia Beach, Va.; six grandsons: Russell Corrado and wife, Melissa, Randall Kimble and wife, Leighann, James McGuire, Sean McGuire, Christopher Wuth and wife, Darcy, and James Wuth; one granddaughter: Angelia Lewis and husband, Robert; four great-grandsons: Casey, Karson, and Keaton Corrado, and David Kimble; and three great-granddaughters: Opal Kimble, and Kylie and Barbara Wuth.
A memorial service, celebration of life, will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Holston Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in Gray with the Rev. Jacqueline Luck presiding.
