AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Carol Tarlton "Granny" Hurst, 76, entered into rest Wednesday at Georgia Health Sciences Medical Center.
Mrs. Hurst was a native of Greeneville, Tenn., but had been a resident of Augusta for 48 years.
She retired as a nurse's aide, after more than 30 years of service.
Mrs. Hurst was a member of The Hill Baptist Church for over 35 years and was a former member of Pine Springs Baptist Church in Greeneville.
She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife and mother and as a treasured "Granny" by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hurst was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years: Lloyd H. Hurst Sr.; her daughter: Jennifer H. Osburn; and by her parents, four brothers, and two sisters.
Survivors include her sons: Hugh C. Hurst and wife, Sharon, of Grovetown and Lloyd H. Hurst Jr. of Wrens; her daughter: Allison H. Johnson and husband, Bill, of London, Texas; a brother: Robert L Tarlton and wife, Ada, of Greeneville; her grandchildren: Curtis O. Osburn, Robert M. Osburn, Ryan J. Wallace, Amber D. Avila, and Sheila L. Seremak; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Platt's Funeral Home, 721 Crawford Ave. in Augusta.
Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ron Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
