Kate Masters, 89, of Cassi Road, Chuckey, the South Central community, passed away Friday at Laughlin HealthCare Center.
She was a homemaker.
Kate was a member of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years: Henry Masters; one brother and sister-in-law: Bill and Madge Brown of South Central; several nieces and nephews, including two special nieces whom she thought of as her own: Margie Brown of Johnson City and Cindy Brown Edmonds of Gray; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law: James and Betty Masters; two sisters-in-law: Helen Mathes and Dolores Brown, all of South Central.
She was the daughter of the late Albert and Ann Brown and was preceded in death by one brother: James H. "Pete" Brown; and five sisters: an infant Juanita Faye Brown, Irene Seaton, Agnes Holt, Lillian Broyles, and Anna Lee Bailey.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 8 p.m. in the chapel. The Rev. John Buchanan will officiate.
Family and friends will meet at 1:45 p.m. Sunday in Liberty Cemetery for a 2 p.m. committal service.
Pallbearers will be Harmon Mathes, Leo Mathes, Gordon Mathes, Jimmy Bailey, Ronnie Brown, Mike Hope, Jimmy Hope, Dennis Sparks, and Mike Edmonds.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Hensley, the members of her Sunday School class at Liberty FWB Church, and Paul Painter.
