Bob Justis

Died: Nov. 25, 2012

Robert Dean "Bob" Justis of the Warrensburg community, passed away Sunday at Laughlin Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

He was born in the Cross Anchor community of Greene County on Christmas Day in 1938.

He was preceded in death by his parents: James R. "Bud" and Maggie Justis; a sister: Joyce Chandler; and a granddaughter: Eden Justis.

Survived by his wife of 40 years: Nancy; one daughter and son-in-law: Gloria and Jeff Silvers of Bulls Gap; two sons and daughters-in-law: Larry and Shana Justis of Rogersville and Johnny and Krystal Justis of Warrensburg; five grandchildren: Derek Silvers, Cody Silvers, Maggie Justis, Emily Justis, and Sarah Justis; one sister and brother-in-law: Martha Jo and R.M. Potter; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Bill and Eva Justis of Morristown, and Franklin and Medra Justis of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Bob, known in his younger years as Dean, lived most of his life in Greene County and held many jobs during his life's journey.

Following his retirement from the Lear Corp. in Morristown, he enjoyed spending time with his family, working on his farm, caring for his animals - especially his horses - and driving his oldest granddaughter, Maggie, to and from school.

Bob made a profession of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ some years ago, although he had not attended church regularly in many years. One of his last requests was a family prayer held at his hospital bedside. When His Savior called for him to leave this world, Bob was resting peacefully with his wife at his side.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 o'clock in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Robert Green will officiate.

Family and friends will meet in Cross Anchor Cemetery at 11 a.m. Wednesday for a committal service.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Silvers, Derek Silvers, Owen Freeman, Steven Freeman, Steve Riddle, and Joey Massey.
