Died: Dec. 1, 2012

Maynard J. "Spud" Belt, 64, of Horse Creek Park Road, Chuckey, passed away Saturday afternoon at the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Mountain Home.

He retired from Alltrista Zinc Products (now Jarden).

Mr. Belt was a member of Wayside Baptist Church.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife of 19 years: Helen Belt; a daughter: Carla Gosnell and her special friend, Doug Smith, of Greeneville; a son and daughter-in-law: Chris and Kristin Belt of Greeneville; her grandchildren: Buddy Gosnell, Amber, C.J. and Shania Belt, Cullen Pierorazio, and Journey Wills, all of Greeneville; his mother: Delphia Seaton of Greeneville; a sister and brother-in-law: Jeraldean and Joe Shaw of Greeneville; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Don Belt and Allen and Barbara Belt of Greeneville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Maynard Belt Sr., and his brother, James Michael Belt.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 7 p.m. in the chapel. The Rev. Leonard Cutshaw and the Rev. Gene Swatzell will officiate.

Family and friends who would like to join the immediate family for the committal service will meet at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home to go in procession to Andrew Johnson National Cemetery for the 1 p.m. service.

The Greene County Honor Guard and the Tennessee National Guard will conduct a military graveside service.

Family members and friends will be pallbearers.
