James L. Boles Jr.

James L. Boles Jr., 77, of Greeneville, passed away Sunday at James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Mountain Home in Johnson City due to complications from cancer.
He was a retired building contractor.
Mr. Boles served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the Warrensburg Masonic Lodge, the Greeneville Order of the Eastern Star, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sports of all kinds.
Mr. Boles was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Crusader Class and served on many committees during his lifetime.
He was happiest when spending time with his family and friends, and always enjoyed serving the needs of others.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 56 years: Marma Lee Smith Boles; a son: Bobby Boles of Bean Station; his godchildren: Angela Messer, Tewana Bohn, Tracy Gass, and Justin Smith; five sisters and two brothers-in-law: Marie Metcalfe, Patty House, Brenda Tolliver, Wanda and Bobby Wilkerson, and Phyllis and Ralph Gallighar, all of Greeneville; two brothers: Dan Boles and Robert Boles, both of Greeneville; an aunt: Dorothy Hankins of Dandridge; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Ellen Boles of Greeneville, Verlin and Remona Parker of Mosheim, Charles and Elizabeth Weems of Knoxville, Ralph and Ina Martin of Cartersville, Ga., Jay Franklin and Linda Smith of Morristown, and Darwin and Eve Smith of Rogers, Ark.; and several special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Edith (Whittaker) and James Lawrence Boles Sr.; three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Susie and Johnny Arwood, Betty and Hugh Luttrell, and Carolyn Foshie; and three brothers and sisters-in-law: Wofford Boles, William A. "Billy" Boles, and Charles Boles.
The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. today at Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service, downtown.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity UM Church with interment in Price's Cemetery in the Romeo community. The Rev. Stuart Albee will officiate.
The Greene County Honor Guard and the Tennessee National Guard will conduct a military graveside service.
The body will lie in state at the church for 30 minutes prior to the funeral service.
Pallbearers will be Chris Boles, Benny Metcalfe, Kevin Tolliver, Tracy Gass, Justin Smith, Mark Weems, and Dwayne Parker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Lintz, Boyce Bradley, William Wright Jr., Dan Spice, Paul Boles, Aaron Smith, Marty Messer, Jason Bohn, Neil Hayes, nephews, and members of the Crusader Class.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Trinity UM Church, or the charity of the donor's choice.
