JEFFERSON CITY -- Sarah Conant Reel, age 84, of New Market, passed away peacefully at her home Monday following an extended illness.
Sarah graduated from Surgoinsville High School and attended Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens.
Sarah married Ralph J. Reel of Greeneville on Nov. 24, 1949, recently celebrating their 63rd anniversary.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jefferson City.
Sarah served as Clerk and Master of Chancery Court of Jefferson County from January 1981 until her retirement in December of 1993.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Kathleen H. and John J. Conant; a brother: John J. Conant Jr.; two sisters Evelyn C. Lane and Mary Ann Ronk Livesay; and an infant daughter: Sarah Evelyn Reel.
Sarah is survived by husband, Ralph J. Reel; her children: Kathy (Reel) Ochenrider and husband, Rob, Ralph J. "Jim" Reel Jr. and wife, Carla, and Sandy (Reel) Linginfelter and husband, Jerry; her grandchildren: Paul Ochenrider, Kaitlin Ochenrider, Rachel (Reel) and Scott Pfeiffer, Ben Reel, Heather (Reel) and Bruce Lipscombe, Jennifer (Reel) and Chris Turney, Jackson Reel, Sarah (Linginfelter) and Peter Turner, and Erica Linginfelter; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law: William H. and Mary Lou Conant.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City.
A memorial service will immediately follow with the Rev. Doug Wilder and the Rev. Tom Underwood officiating.
A private interment will be held in Highland Cemetery in Rogersville.
