Died: Dec. 5, 2012

Douglas "Doug" Pitts, age 57, of Greeneville, died Wednesday evening at Takoma Regional Hospital.

He was a painter.

Survivors include five children: Douglas Wayne Pitts and his wife, Kim, Maranda Michelle Whitson, John Michael "Duke" Pitts, Megan Pitts, and Cody Gass; a special friend: LaRue Belt; eight grandchildren: Alex Pitts, Austin and Ethan Whitson, Phoebe Piper Pitts, Madison, Peyton, and Parker Shelton, and Ian McCamey; two stepdaughters: Lisa Belt and Sunshine Shelton; six sisters and two brothers-in-law: Josephine Lee, Bonnie Sauceman, Linda and J.T. Brown, Martha Fannon, Mitzi and Ralph Dixon, and Brenda Tipton; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Edward and June Pitts and Calloway and Jane Pitts; a sister-in-law: Shelby Pitts; several nieces and nephews; and special friends: Robert Wayne and Carolyn Adams.

He was preceded in death by his parents: James and Pauline Donnie Malone Pitts; two brothers: Carl Pitts and Paul Pitts; and one sister: Ann Boyd.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow visitation at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Richard Long will officiate.

Interment will follow in Jackson Chapel Cemetery.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
