Bert H. Swecker Jr., 87, of Mosheim, passed away Sunday.

He was a prominent dairy man and enjoyed working on his family farm as long as his health permitted.

Mr. Swecker was a member of Towering Oaks Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years: Sylvia Dyer Swecker; one son: Randal B. Swecker; two daughters and sons-in-law: Karen and Dr. Carl Thacker and Sandra and Allen R. Jones; two granddaughters: Kendra Jones Conner and Andrea J. Jones, both of Knoxville; a great-grandson: Jones Allen Conner of Knoxville; three sisters: Mary Anne Gaby and Beatrice Waddell, both of Greeneville, and Nadine Gaby of Maryville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Bert H. Swecker Sr., and Johanna Ottem Swecker; brothers: Joseph Swecker and Paul Swecker; and sisters: Dorothy Burgess and Helen Kozel.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. today at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 7:30 p.m. in the Doughty-Stevens Chapel.

Dr. James K. Pierce III, the Rev. Richard Long, and the Rev. Dwayne Casteel will officiate.

The Rev. and Mrs. Dennis Shumate will provide the music.

Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday to go in procession to GreeneLawn Memory Gardens for the 11 a.m. committal service.

Pallbearers will be Dwayne Casteel, William Carter, Richard Swecker, Kyle Gass, Jeff Weems and Matt Campbell.
