Bobby Joe Adams, 75, of the Cross
Anchor community, passed away early Monday morning at his home.
He was
retired from construction and was a farmer.
He was a faithful member
of Union Free Will Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years: Viola Adams; one daughter and son-in-law:
Shelby (Adams) and Paul McLaughlin; four sons and two daughters-in-law: Robert Adams, Ricky Adams,
Duane and Angela Adams all of Greeneville, Terry and Jamie Adams of Jonesborough; eight
grandchildren: Brad, Sandy, and Josh Gibson, Michael Adams, Brandie Adams, Jacoby and Jessica Adams,
and Jordan Coggins; five great-grandchildren: Autumn and Gavin Pickard, Kaydynse and Maddux Gibson,
and Jaylen Adams; three sisters: Louise Swatzell, Helen Davis, and Gladys Isley; three brothers:
Albert Adams, Jerry Adams, and Johnny Adams; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Rosa Adams; two brothers: Basil Adams
and Lacy Adams; four sisters: Katherine Johnson, Georgia Adams, Lucy Jones, and Polly Key.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today at Doughty-Stevens
Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the
Doughty-Stevens Chapel.
The Rev. Kevin Casteel and the Rev. Jonathan
Jones will officiate.
Interment will follow in Carter's Station
Cemetery at Albany.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Brown, Steve Brown,
Ricky Carter, Gary Carter, Doug Carter, and Randy Carter.
Honorary
pallbearers will be the staff of Amedisys Hospice, Dr. Elliott Smith and staff, Jeff Collins, Cecil
Malone, Calvin Carter, and the members of the Adult Sunday School Class of Union FWB
Church.
