John Lee Trent

Died: Dec. 27, 2012

ROGERSVILLE -- John Lee Trent, age 68, of Rogersville, passed away Thursday.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having proudly served his country for four years.

He was a multi-talented musician who loved to play and sing with his "Country Crew" band.

John was a self-employeed truck driver for more than 40 years.

He was saved and baptized as a young man and was a member of Maple Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

John cherished his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife: Bertha "Kitty" Shugars Trent; the mother of children: Janice Martin; son: John Clifton Trent (Marlena); daughters: Patricia "Jamie" Coleman (Roger Sr.), Wanda Trent Mullins, Peggy Shugars Dyer (Danny); sons: Dennis W. Shugars (Diane) and Danny L Shugars (Jackie); grandchildren: Roger II, Samantha, Jonathan, Matthew, Mark, Jacob, Hayden, Tyler, Caleb, Johnathan, Baylee, Tim, Danielle, and Kristen; great-grandchildren: Kaydence, Maverick and Tee; beloved friends: Vince Mullins and Ted Wilson; brothers: Clarence Trent (Anna) and Herbert Trent (Susan); sisters: Betty Mathis (Frank) and Barbara Boone; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Gertrude Hungate; father, Floyd Trent; brother, William Trent; sister, Diane Trent; and granddaughter, Janice Coleman.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at Christian-Sells Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Glen Bradley officiating.

A military graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Dean Cemetery.
