Died: Dec. 29, 2012

Mary Brown, 86, of Biddle Street, Greeneville, passed away Sunday at the Johnson City Medical Center.

She was in the retail business for 47 years. Her career spanned all the way back to the old Sky City and Big K days through to Walmart, where she worked until her 84th birthday.

Mary was an active member of the Eastern Star for nearly four decades.

She competed successfully in the Senior Olympics Games placing locally, at district, state, and national levels.

Mary touched thousands of lives through her Walmart family and the Senior Games and will always be remembered for her pleasant smile and great attitude.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Timmy and Tammy Brown, and Paul and Connie Brown, all of Greeneville; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and numerous special friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Arthur Brown; two sons: Ted Brown and William Brown; a daughter: Olivia Harrison; grandson: Terry Futrell; parents: Charles H. and Maude Webster of Roane County; and seven brothers and sisters.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service, Afton Chapel, with the funeral service following at 8 p.m. The Rev. Paul Garritt from Calvary Baptist Church will officiate.

Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in GraceLand Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jim Fain officiating.
