Died: Dec. 28, 2012

Donald David "Donnie" Jeffers, age 63, passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, after a very brief battle with cancer, at his home in the Sunnyside community. He was formerly of Mount Carmel Road, Mosheim.

He gave his life to God at an early age. He was a very loving and devoted husband.

Mr. Jeffers was a retired mason.

He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.

His favorite things to do were spending time with his family and friends, playing golf, throwing darts, and he was a great pool player.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years: Nancy Gray Jeffers; three sons: William "Willie" Ray Jeffers of the home, Kevan David Jeffers of Ohio, and Charles Eric Jeffers of Mosheim; one daughter: Katy Denney Franklin and husband, Christefer Franklin, of Greeneville; two grandchildren: Sienna Rose Jeffers of Ohio and Eric Allen Jeffers of Mosheim; his mother-in-law, whom he loved dearly: Patricia Gray, and one brother-in-law: William "Bill" Gray, who was also a great friend, both of the home; sister: Eunice Bowman Jeffers; a special nephew: Geoffery Ford; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and lots of dear friends, including a special cousin: Mickey Cox, and a special friend: Doyle Ford.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Byrel and Katie Cox Jeffers; a grandson: Adin J. Franklin; his father-in-law: Lonnie "Bud" Gray; an aunt: Judy Gray; and an uncle: Gary Gray.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. today at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Andrew Johnson National Cemetery with the Rev. Troy Cutshaw officiating.

The Greene County Honor Guard and the Tennessee National Guard will conduct a military graveside service.

Active pallbearers will be Micky Cox, Doyle Ford, Chuck Conaster, Andy Ellis, Tony Adams, Jerry Bryant, Lynn Robinette, and Lewis Roberts.

The family requests memorials be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
