Ralph E. Reed, 98, of Whirlwind Road, Greeneville, passed away Wednesday at his home.
He was a retired carpenter and farmer.
Mr. Reed was a member of River Hill United Methodist Church.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of VFW Post No. 1990.
Survivors include a daughter: Sherry J. Edwards of Greeneville; a daughter-in-law: Virginia Reed of Davisburg, Mich.; four grandsons and two granddaughters-in-law: Donald Reed of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mike and Felita Reed of Greeneville, Mark and Jessica Reed of Davisburg, and Jeffrey Reed of Redmond, Wash.; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother: John Reed of Greeneville; a sister: Willie Brumley of Greeneville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the son of the late Charles Edward and Lula Rebecca Bible Reed and was preceded in death by his wife: Donna Reed; a son: Jimmy Reed; and seven brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with interment in River Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Richard Waddle will officiate.
The Greene County Honor Guard and the Tennessee National Guard will conduct a military graveside service.
Pallbearers will be Edward Reed, Dwayne Reed, John Reed Jr., Jack Reed, Charles Brumley, and Glenn Cope.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, the men of River Hill UM Church, and Dr. John Shaw.
