Died: Jan. 5, 2013

Richard "Dick" Martino, 73, of Vann Road, Greeneville, passed away Saturday at his home.

He was employed by Sylvania/North American Philips Inc. for 45 years before retiring on July 29, 2005.

Richard served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1964.

He was born Aug. 24, 1939, in Batavia, N.Y., and was a son of the late John and Laura Martino.

Richard's grandchildren were the love of his life. He loved bow hunting with his grandson Joshua and his hunting buddies Roger Owens (deceased) and Bill Painter. He loved to tease the granddaughters, and they learned to tease him right back. Richard loved to hunt, fish, bowl, do stain glass and play golf with all his friends at Nolichuckey Golf Course, especially with Lanny and L.D. Johnston.

He was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife: Loretta (Irrera) Martino; two daughters and sons-in-law: Julie and Mickey Ellis of Greeneville and Kimberly and Billy Hensley of Rogersville; a son: Richard Anthony Martino Jr. of Greeneville; grandchildren: Joshua Cutshaw and wife, Ericka, Paige Bible, Jessica Hensley, and Megan Bible; two stepgrandsons: Burton and Jordon Ellis; sister: Mary (Barney) Bernard of Batavia; brothers: Tony (Sandra) Martino and Tom Martino of Batavia, and John Martino of Florida; sister-in-law: Alice Martino of California; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: John and Serena Baiocco of Batavia and Gerard and Roselee Coffta of Corfu, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers and sister-in-law: Paul, Jerry, Loretta, and James Martino; a nephew: John Bernard; a niece: Janet Martino; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law: William and Margaret Irrera.

The family expressed thanks to Dr. Thomas Beckner, Allison, and staff, the doctors and nurses of the VA, especially: Heidi Bailey, Dr. Provance and Sarah Carnell. Thanks also to Caris Healthcare and Hospice, especially Janet Varney, Tiffany Holt, Jennifer Pearson, Beverly Odom, and Cindy Taliaferro. In addition, a special thanks to Audrey Vocaturo, Margaret and Wes Wayson, Father Jim Harvey, and all of our friends at Notre Dame Church.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 212 Mount Bethel Road, Greeneville. The Rev. Jim Harvey will officiate.

It is requested that family and friends meet at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the church.

A private family burial will be in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.

Family members will be pallbearers.
