Guy Haskell Phillips, 83, born June 18, 1929, and raised in Greene County, passed away Wednesday at Durham-Hensley Health & Rehabilitation.
Mr. Phillips retired from MECO.
Survivors include three daughters and a special son-in-law: Nancy Johnson of Chuckey, and Lisa Phillips and Ann and Roger Johnson of Greeneville; four grandchildren: Scott Johnson and wife, Shelly, of Gray, and Coty Dykes, Sarah Johnson, and Brandy Carter of Greeneville; eight great-grandchildren: Daniel and Nikki Johnson of Telford, Jessica Johnson, Matthew Johnson, and Marcus Johnson of Fort Pierce, Fla., Hunter and Summer Carter of Whiteford, Md., and Blake McClure of Greeneville; two stepgreat-grandchildren: Trisha and Dylan Graybeal of Gray; a great-great-granddaughter: Victorria Johnson; two nieces: Faye Odell and Lynnis Fender; a nephew: Glen Rose; his special friends: Mark and Tammy Brown; a special "birthday girl": Brenda Brown; and a special beloved pet: Crickett
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years: Mary Frank Babb Phillips; grandson: Adam Johnson; sister: Minnie Ruth Rose; three brothers: Arthur, Ralph, and Bruce Jr. Phillips; his parents: Bruce Walter Phillips and Maude Brown Graham; two half-sisters: Laverna White and Rose Dixson; his stepfather: Woody Graham; and a nephew: Wayne Rose.
The family expressed a special thanks to Dr. Ken and Dr. Carla Nickle and staff and the friends at Durham-Hensley, who were so loving and kind.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service, downtown.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with interment in Doty's Chapel Cemetery. The Rev. Dean Brewster will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Scott Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Lee Mallory, Coty Dykes, Mark Brown, Jeff Babb, Mark Babb, and Nathan Babb.
