Rev. J.R. McElwain

The Rev. J.R. McElwain, 72, of Hobe Sound, Fla., went to be with the Lord Tuesday at his home.

Rev. McElwain was an ordained pastor with the Midwest Pilgrim Holiness Church. He served churches in Tennessee, North Carolina, Indiana, Illinois, and South Carolina from 1963 through 2009.

In addition, he served as a missionary with Hope International Missions in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years: Margaret Shipley McElwain; two children: Randall of Hobe Sound and Lisa of Napanoch, N.Y.; and four grandchildren: Austin and Stacey McElwain of Hobe Sound, and Michelle and Darci Biswell of Napanoch.

Funeral services for Rev. McElwain will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. The Rev. Randall McElwain and the Rev. Charles Ervin will officiate. Interment will follow in Cedar Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until time for the services.
