Virginia Roberts Poe, age 99, formerly of West Grove Street, passed away Wednesday afternoon at Wellington Place of Greeneville.
Born Aug. 24, 1913, in Greene County, Mrs. Poe was a daughter of the late Will and Myrtle Myers Roberts.
She was a member of Greeneville Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Cannonball Club.
Mrs. Poe enjoyed sewing, cooking, and church activities.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law: Mitzi and Martin Hamilton of Winterville, N.C.; three granddaughters and their spouses: Cindy and Billy Dale of Rockville, Va., Cathy and Derek Altizer of Christiansburg, Va., and Christy and Darrell Bibb of Greenville, N.C.; six great-grandchildren: Ethan DuVal and Grace Dale, Caleb and Hannah Altizer, and Ty and Lexie Bibb; four very special nieces: Mary Anne Solomon, Karen Roberts, and Betty Teague, all of Greeneville, and Margie DaMitz of Johnson City.
She was preceded in death by her husband: J.V. Poe, who died in 1945; two sisters: Mary Sue Werner and Anna Mae Dearstone; and two brothers: Verl Roberts and Bill Roberts.
The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. Saturday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. the funeral home chapel. The Rev. James W. Lively will officiate. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
