Betty Joan Brown Ingle, 80, of Spruce Street, Greeneville, passed away Thursday at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Mrs. Ingle was retired. She was a teacher in the Greeneville City and Greene County school systems.
She was a member of Reformation Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Ingle was a member of the Democratic Women’s Party, the Women of the Moose, the Tennessee Retired Teachers Association, and the Tusculum Alumni Association.
Survivors include a stepdaughter: Monica Arrington and husband, Frank of Mars Hill, N.C.; two grandchildren: Jessica Chandler and husband, Jerry, of Mars Hill, and Leighann Arrington and boyfriend, Jonathan Shelton; nephews: Joe Bowman, Hugh Bowman, and Jim Bowman; A special niece: Jodi Tobie; her beloved dog: Lucy; and special friends: Betty and John Burley, Scott and Wendy Dinger, Russell and Gina Wexler, and Alex and Shane McLean.
She was the daughter of the late Jim and Bonnie Brown and was preceded in death by her husband: Harold R. Ingle; two sisters: Mabel Brown Bowman and Bill Brown McAffee; and one brother: James Minnis Brown.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Reformation Lutheran Church with interment in Sinking Springs Cemetery. The Rev. David Webb will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Chris Bowman, Frank Bowman, Bob McRay, James Bowman Jr., Robert Wilhoit, and Joe Bowman III.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Chandler and Jonathan Shelton.
