Gale Ramsey

Died: Jan. 15, 2013

JONESBOROUGH -- Charles "Gale" Ramsey, age 76, Limestone, passed away Tuesday at the Johnson City Medical Center.

Born in Kingsport, Mr. Ramsey was a son of the late Charles and Connie Cox Ramsey.

He was a member of Bowmantown Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee for 23 years.

Mr. Ramsey was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired dairy farmer.

He was a member of the Bowmantown Ruritan Club.

Survivors include his wife: Geraldine "Gerry" Chapman Ramsey of Limestone; sons and daughters-in-law: Steve and Stacy Ramsey of Jonesborough and Mike and Kathy Ramsey of Limestone; granddaughter: Shelby Ramsey of Jonesborough; sisters: Mary Ann Laughlin and Nancy Osborne and husband, Hayes, all of Kingsport, and Martha Williams and husband, Ray, of Cleveland; sister-in-law: Wilma Ramsey; and numerous nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Carl Ramsey and Tom Ramsey.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Bowmantown Baptist Church with the Rev. Maurice Quillen and the Rev. Christi Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Denny Chapman, Dan Brandt, Bobby Slagle, Alfred Chapman, Richard Chapman, Paul Chapman, Paul Armentrout, Gary Harris, and Hayes Osborne.

Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Rowland, Ralph Hensley, Fred Southerland, Murphy Hensley, Arthur Deyton, Jimmy Rogers, Eugene Ward, Johnny Payne, and Don Curd.

Memorial donations may be made to Bowmantown Baptist Church, 418 Hwy. 75, Jonesborough, TN or Fairview UM Church, 878 Hwy 81 N., Jonesborough, TN 37659.
