Died: Jan. 20, 2013

MARSHALL, N.C. -- Ester Emeline Norton Chandler, 72, of Marshall, formerly of Greeneville, Tenn., passed away Sunday at Memorial Mission Hospital.

Mrs. Chandler was born April 16, 1940, in Madison County.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Bobby Chandler; parents: Simon and Genetta Thomas Norton; two brothers: Bobby and Ted Norton; and a grandson: Jason McClure.

Surviving are her daughters: Diane Arrington (Mickie) and Jewel Waldroup (Roy); sons: Don Chandler and Phil Chandler (Renee); grandchildren: Antonia Norton, Otha McClure, Robert Caraway, and Stacy and Phylisha Waldroup; several great-grandchildren: Blake and Alyssa McClure, Hunter Caraway, Brittany and Leia Norton, Kadyn and Laci Waldroup, and Audrey Degroot; brothers and sisters-in-law: Willard Norton (Annie Faye), Bennie Norton (Ann), Ronnie Norton, and Junior Norton; a sister, Maggie Griffey; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Upper Paint Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in the Upper Paint Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church from noon until time for the service.

Pallbearers will be Micheal Linderman, Bobby Degroot, Otha McClure, Brent Norton, Kenny Church, Chris Johnson, Mickie Arrington and Ray Rice.

The family expressed a special thanks to those who helped take care of her.
