ERWIN -- Arville Donald "Mountain Man" Hensley, age 63, of Chuckey, passed away Saturday.
He was a native of Unicoi County and a son of Eula Shelton Hensley and the late Donald Hensley.
He was formerly owner and operator of C&A Lumber Co.
He loved to hunt and he enjoyed his dogs, Rebel and Sassy.
He is survived by his wife: Charlotte Hensley; three daughters: Penny Aesque and husband, Todd, of Jonesborough, Candy Hensley and friend, Tommy Reynolds, of Meadowview, Va., and Natosha Fowler and friend, Garrett Lawson, of Johnson City; two sons: Jackie Sauceman of Greeneville and Travis Fowler of Marshall, N.C.; two special stepdaughters: Crystal Knight and friend, Curtis Whittemore, of Jonesborough, and Alissia Hensley and friend, Haskell Payne, of Chuckey; 11 grandchildren: Melinda Vance, Roger Vance, Alisha Vance, Amber Casey, Josh Casey, Cody Casey, Autumn Knight, Madisyn Whittemore, Ian Sauceman, Chelsey Sauceman and David Sauceman; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; three brothers: James B. Hensley of Flag Pond, Arnold Hensley of Fall Branch, and Alvin Hensley of Unicoi; and a sister: Kathleen Conduff of Fall Branch.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a stepson: James Alvin Hensley; grandson: Noah Wayne Barnett, and grandmother: Rosie Shelton.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today in the chapel of Valley Funeral Home, 1085 N. Main Ave., Erwin.
A funeral service for Mr. Hensley will be conducted at noon Friday in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Winfred Shelton will officiate.
Vocal selections will be given by the Rev. Winfred and Penny Shelton and by Dwight Arrington.
Interment will follow in Shelton Mission Cemetery, Greeneville.
Serving as pallbearers will be Duane Fowler, Clyde "Buddy" King, Travis "Bubba" Fowler, Roger "Chester" Vance, Joshua Casey, and Dakota Casey.
