Died: Jan. 22, 2013

Helen Rose Nelson, 80, of the Rheatown community, passed away Tuesday at Takoma Regional Hospital.

She retired from Greene Valley Developmental Center.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Gail and Bobby Lane of Rheatown and Shane and Allen Tweed of the Fairview community; five grandchildren: Jessica Lane, Chase Lane, Christopher Tweed, Kelsey Tweed, and Cory Tweed; a sister: Ginger Rose Kelley of Rheatown; a special friend: Charles Linton; and two nieces: Melissa Kelley Lee and Joyce Rose Smith.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Junior Nelson; parents: Kenneth Rose, Stella Rose, and Gladys Rose; a brother: Buddy Rose; and a cousin: Nell Dotson.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. today at Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service, Afton Chapel, with the funeral service following at 7 p.m. in the chapel. The Rev. Dwayne Steele will officiate.

A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Mount Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Lane, Daniel Morrison, Christopher Tweed, Cory Tweed, and Chase Lane.
