CHESAPEAKE, Va. -- Richard E. Paxson Sr., 76, of the 1600 block of Rokeby Ave., passed away Wednesday.
He was born in Chesapeake, a son of the late Rowland James and Edna Johnson Paxson. He was the widower of Arneta B. Paxson, a native of Greeneville, Tenn.
He retired from Ford Motor Company.
He was an avid hunter up until age 72, when he broke his hip and could not go anymore.
He is survived by a son: Richard E. Paxson Jr. of Chesapeake; a daughter: Kay Lyn Paxson-Hermann and husband, Frank, of Chesapeake; two grandchildren: Sarah Paxson and Frankie Hermann, both of Chesapeake; a stepgranddaughter: Michele Z. Cook of Chesapeake; a brother: Rowland James Paxson Sr. of Chesapeake; two sisters: Patsy Beasley and husband, Burt, of Virginia Reach, and Nancy Whiting of Chesapeake; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Indian River Chapel with the Rev. Bert Kirk officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
