Mary June Neas Seay

Died: Jan. 25, 2013

Mary June Neas Seay, age 84, passed away peacefully Friday at Shannondale Nursing Home in Knoxville.

She was a resident of the St. James community in Greene County for most of her life, and was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church.

Mary June was valedictorian of her class at St. James High School and instilled a lifelong love of reading in her son.

Widowed at a young age, Mary June went on to raise her son and to work alongside family members maintaining a dairy and tobacco farm in St. James.

She was a quiet woman who loved gospel music and enjoyed an extraordinarily close, loving relationship with her sister, Beulah.

Mary June is survived by: her son Steve Seay, daughter-in-law Stephanie Seay, and granddaughter Hannah Seay, all of Knoxville; two sisters: Beulah Renner and Geraldine Clark; nephews: Ritchie Renner, Buford Neas, Terry Clark, Ronnie Clark, and Charles Rader and their wives; a special great-nephew: Wade Renner; special cousins: Juanita and Dale Ottinger; and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband: Dayton Seay; a brother: L.V. Neas; and parents: Coy and Annalee Neas of Greeneville.

The family wishes to recognize the special care provided by CNA Mary Nance of Shannondale Nursing Home while Mrs. Seay was in residence.

Services will be held at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home in Greeneville, beginning with a visitation Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Larry Moore officiating. Family and friends will then proceed to St. James Lutheran Church for interment.

Pallbearers will be nephews and neighbors.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. James Lutheran Church, 3205 St. James Road, Greeneville, TN 37743.
