Oliver "O.D." Shelton, age 73, of the Horse Creek community, passed away Wednesday at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years: Mary Fellers Shelton; one son and his wife: Frankie and Gerri Shelton; two daughters and their husbands: Karen and Kenny Harville and Sharon and Gary Sexton; five grandchildren: Amber Price, Clinton Sexton, Sierra Shelton, Kendra Harville, and Kaitlyn Harville; two stepgrandchildren: Jayquan Price and Serinity Price; one stepgranddaughter and her husband: Emily and Luke Wood; one stepgrandson: Collin Wood; three brothers and their wives: Roy Earl and Janie Shelton, Dillard and Alice Shelton, and Dennis and Reneé Shelton; six sisters-in-law and their husbands: Sylvia and George Miller, Geraldene and Mark Hatley, Ruth and Jim Bowens, Mildred and Buddy Roberts, Betty and Mark Moshea, and Maxine and Phil Randall; four brothers-in-law and their wives: Bud and Jessie Fellers, Eddie and Christy Fellers, Henry Fellers, and Bobby Fellers; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friends: Denise and Doug Jones, Pam and Ken Price, Shirley and Richard Chase, and Thelma Smithson.

He was a son of the late John and Thelma Shelton and was preceded in death by his sister, Reba Starr Shelton.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home with funeral service following at 8 p.m. in the chapel. The Rev. Kenneth Bowens and the Rev. Lowell Bowens will officiate.

Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Saturday to go in procession to Horse Creek Church of God Cemetery for an 11 a.m. committal service.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Bowens, Brock Malone, Tanner Malone, Danny Miller, Jeff Miller, Dwayne Shelton, and James Shelton.

Honorary pallbearers will be the 4-West nursing staff at Laughlin Memorial Hospital, the staff of Laughlin Home Health, Dr. Joe Scott, Dr. Mandeep Bakshi, and the former employees of Greeneville Industries (Shipbuilder's).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
