Died: Feb. 1, 2013

JONESBOROUGH -- The Rev. Roy Wayne Clifton Houser Sr., age 71, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday at the home of a daughter in Jonesborough.

A native of Blountville, Rev. Houser was the son of the late Joseph William and Mary Lee Almroad Houser. He was also preceded in death by three grandchildren.

He loved to go bear hunting.

Survivors include his wife: Betty O'Neal Houser; children: Penny Wilson of Asheville, N.C., Roy Wayne Houser Jr. and Kathy Adams, both of Jonesborough, Robin Bennett of Green Mountain, N.C., Joseph Houser of Greeneville, Trixie Briggs of Green Mountain, and Vickie Greene of Jonesborough; 21 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister: Ruth Chapman of Greeneville; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home, Jonesborough.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Jerry Scalf and the Rev J.W. Mann will officiate.

Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery with Russell Wheeler officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home.
