Ronald Welch, age 79, of Greeneville, formerly of Midway, died Wednesday afternoon at Life Care Center of Greeneville.
He retired from the U.S. Navy after 22 years and later worked as a security guard at Plus Mark, Inc.
Mr. Welch was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, the Midway Volunteer Fire Department, Midway Ruritan Club, and V.F.W., Rader McCravey Post No. 9683.
Survivors include his wife: Willie Ann Welch; one daughter: Cassie of California; son: Tim of Missouri; one brother and two sisters-in-law: Gene and Carol Welch and Virgie Welch; brother-in-law: Ken Beach of Midway; mother-in-law: Willie Ruth (Toby) Beach of Midway; nieces and nephews: Lisa and Glenn Toof, Dave and Peggy Welch, Mike and Lou Welch, Edie Beckett, Zackary Beckett, Mikenzi Beckett, and Austin Brady; special friends: Ralph and Peggy Barnes; and a host of friends from Midway United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Mr. and Mrs. Claude Welch; sister: Mary Lou Welch; two brothers: Frank and Walter Welch; and father-in-law: Kenneth "Whitey" Beach.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Mosheim Chapel of Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. The Rev. Sammy Stockman, the Rev. Jerry Holt, and the Rev. Kevin Wisecarver will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Andrew Johnson National Cemetery with military honors being conveyed by V.F.W. Rader McCravey Post # 9683.
Honorary pallbearers will be Coy Hinkle, Ronnie Ricker, Bill Morrison, Zackary Beckett, Austin Brady, Fred Nolen, and Tom Solomon.
The family expressed a special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Life Care Center of Greeneville.
