James A. Moore
Died: Feb. 7, 2013
James A. "Pappy" Moore, 85, of Greeneville, passed away Thursday morning at Morning Point of Greeneville.
Mr. Moore was a member of Reformation Lutheran Church.
He graduated from the University of Tennessee.
Mr. Moore retired from Philips Consumer Electronics.
He served with the Gov. Winfield Dunn administration.
Mr. Moore was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army.
He was active with the Democratic party while his health permitted.
He always said he was the father of the four finest sons a man could have.
Survivors include four sons: Michael Moore of Knoxville, Sam and Pam Moore of Greeneville, John and Judy Moore of Johnson City, and Matthew Moore of Knoxville; grandchildren and spouses: Elizabeth and Mike Plewniak, Cassie and Matt Herrick, Dr. Nick and Jesse Moore, Dr. Arthur and Katherine Moore, and John Michael Moore; great-grandchildren: Zeke Plewniak, Lillian Joy Plewniak, Knox Plewniak, Freeman Plewniak, Tess Plewniak, Dominic Herrick, and Anastasia Moore; a brother and sister-in-law: Gilson and Shirley Moore of Jefferson City; and a sister: Mary Turbeville of Gatlinburg.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Joan Moore, and his parents, Gill and Anita Mae Moore.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. today at Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service, downtown, with a Masonic service following at 7 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Reformation Lutheran Church. Pastor David Webb will officiate.
Interment will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Lynnhurst Cemetery in Knoxville. A military graveside service will be conducted by the Volunteer State National Honor Guard and the Tennessee National Guard.
His children will be pallbearers.
