Bruce Thornton, 64, of the Tennessee 107 Highway, Chuckey, died Thursday at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.

He was employed by H.B.L. Enterprises, and was a member of the VFW, Post 1990.

Survivors include his wife: Julie Thornton; one daughter: Katie Lynn Thornton of Afton; one son: Adam Thornton of Afton; stepchildren: Robert and Leslie Miller of Bluff City, Traci and Marty Skipper of Limestone, and Christopher and Keesha Garland of Limestone; a sister and brother-in-law: Diane and Jim Love of Johnson City; two brothers: Jerry Thornton of Kingsport, and Eddie and Sandra Thornton of Kentucky; and stepgrandchildren: Damian, Jayden and Cameron Garland, Gabriel Miller and Jessica Murabito .

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anderson and Mary Edith Thornton, and a brother, Andy Thornton.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Jeffers Funeral Service Afton Chapel.

The funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Afton Chapel, following visitation.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Washington County Memorial Gardens.

The Greene County Honor Guard and the National Guard will conduct the service.
