Died: Feb. 18, 2013

MORRISTOWN -- Baxter Kyle Lathim, age 88, of Bean Station, passed away Monday at 7:05 p.m. in Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System following a lingering illness.

He was a veteran of World War II.

Mr. Lathim retired from Berkline.

He attended Adriel Missionary Baptist Church as long as his health permitted.

He was loved by all who knew him and was a loving, caring person and will be missed by everyone.

He was preceded in death by his former wives, Simelda and Edith Lathim; parents, Tom and Pearl Drinnon Lathim; two brothers: Oscar and Layden; four sisters: Beatrice, Gussie, Virginia and Edna; and stepson: Roger Smith.

He is survived by a son: Terry Bartley and wife, Debbie, and a brother: Homer Lathim and wife, Jane, all of Bean Station; four stepsons and wives of Greene County: Gary and Alma Smith, Tim and Helen Smith, Ronnie Smith, and Eddie Smith; four stepdaughters and husbands: Janet Ellenburg, Judy and Richard Gosnell, and Debbie and Joe Griffey of Greene County, and Mitzi and Roger Hayes of Bulls Gap; two sisters-in-law: Imogene Lathim and Cecil Lathim; several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and stepgrandchildren; and a host of friends.

There will be no formal visitation.

Family and friends will meet at 1:45 p.m. today in Jefferson Memorial Gardens for a 2 p.m. graveside service. The Rev. Tim Collins will officiate.

Stubblefield Funeral Home in Morristown is in charge of arrangements.
