Albert McGhee
Died: Feb. 19, 2013
Albert "Papaw" McGhee, 64, of Chuckey, passed away Tuesday at his home.
He was a member of Lord's House Ministries.
Mr. McGhee was a farmer and had worked 15 years with Dean Brothers Electric.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed watching and coaching softball in the recreation league.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years: Judy McGhee; two sons and daughters-in-law: Roy and Page McGhee and Ted and Punky Smith; five daughters and a son-in-law: Penny McGhee, Christine McGhee and fiancé, Matt Haas, Carleen McGhee, Ashley and Shane Ward, and Brittany McGhee and fiancé, Charles Kishbaugh; grandchildren: Deanna Roberts, Travis Helton, Sarah Helton, Michael McGhee, Brandon McGhee, Anthony "Peanut" McGhee, Albert Smith, Victoria Smith, Joshua Phillips and fiancée, Brittany Boyd, Brayden "Tubby-Tubby" Ward, Broc and Christin Daugherty, and three unborn grandchildren; great grandchildren: Brayden Roberts, Mylee Roberts, Kaylen Hance, and Judy Gaskins; brother and sister-in-law: Tommy and Frances McGhee; special friends, who were thought of as family: Harold "Dopy" McCall, Donna Babb Ray, and Donnie and Judy Willis and son Dalton; several nieces and nephews; loyal pet: Tyg; and his extended softball family.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Ben McGhee and Nana Ricker; and brothers: Jerry and Bobby McGhee.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. today at Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service, Afton Chapel.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Afton Chapel with interment in Pleasant Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The Rev. Danny Willis and the Rev. Ken Thacker will officiate.
Pallbearers will be his nephews and grandsons.
The family expressed special thanks to Dr. Patel, Dr. Thwing, and the staffs of Amedisys Home Health and Smoky Mountain Hospice.
