Betty Jo Jones

Died: Feb. 26, 2013

Betty Jo Starnes Jones, of the Horse Creek community, formerly of Kiser Boulevard, passed away Tuesday afternoon at Life Care Center of Greeneville.

She retired from Magnavox and was of the Baptist faith.

She was a member of the Women of the Moose.

Survivors include one son: Ricky E. Ball of Afton and his special friend, Lisa Church; two grandchildren: Tavia Shea Stroud and her husband, Matthew, of Midway, and Mitchell E. Ball of Chuckey; one great-granddaughter: Liberty Stroud; one sister and brother-in-law: Robbie Ruth and Fred Keller, and one brother and sister-in-law: Dennis C. and Faye Starnes, all of Greene County; several nieces and nephews; and special friends: June Sharrett, Ava Ricker, Barbara Evans, Sue Henry, and Cary Hice.

She was a daughter of the late Wade and Bessie Wills Starnes and widow of William Stanley Jones, who died in 1993.

She was preceded in death by her sister: Helen Alls; half-brother: Conley Starnes; and special friend: Charles Lindley.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 8 p.m. in the chapel. The Rev. Kenneth Bowens will officiate.

Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Friday to go in procession to Union Chapel Cemetery for an 11 a.m. committal service.

Pallbearers will be Steve Keller, Gary Light, Kenneth Brown, Larry Seay, Matthew Stroud, and Mitchell Ball.
