Clyde Grayer Tino

Died: Feb. 26, 2013

Clyde Grayer Tino, age 88, of Cookeville, formerly of Greeneville, died Tuesday at Alvin C. York VA Medical Center in Murfreesboro.

He was a woodworker and retired as a supervisor from Norwalk in Cookeville.

He was a Baptist by faith.

Mr. Tino was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Navy as a Radarman 3rd Class on the USS Enterprise. He was a member of VFW Post No. 1990.

He loved gardening and the mountains.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years: Aletha O'dell Renner Tino; his children: Brenda Dixon and Doris Cronin of Greeneville, Phillip Tino of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Phillis Jolley of Sparta, and Jimmy Tino and wife, Shelia, of Cookeville; nine grandchildren and their spouses: Jammie and Mike Aiken, Amanda and Nick Lusignolo, Seth Tino, Brandon and Lauren Jolley, Erin Jolley, Holly and Ben Sprickard, Jeff and Suzanne Cronin, Ashley Tino, and Shawn and Susan Tino; several great-grandchildren; sisters: Hazel Sweeney and Ruth Stills; several nieces and nephews; and special friends to the family: David Hagaman and Jerry Jolley.

He was preceded in death by a son: Rodney Tino; his parents: Rufus and Flora Wills Tino; a sister: Edith Davis; and brothers: Lester, Harl, Howard, Maynard and Hunter Tino.

The family will receive friends from 12:30-2 p.m. Friday at Pine Springs Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 2 p.m.

Interment will follow in Pine Springs Cemetery with military graveside services being conducted by the Greene County Honor Guard and U.S. Navy Military Honors Team.

Active pallbearers will be grandsons.

Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
