Viola Smith Garber

Died: March 4, 2013

Viola Smith Garber, 90, of Baileyton, passed away Monday afternoon at her home.

She retired from Franklin Furniture Company.

Mrs. Garber was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son: Dana Garber of the home; one daughter and son-in-law: Cassie and Bobby Stapleton of Midway; one daughter-in-law: Michelle Garber; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one sister: Edna Holt of Greeneville; one brother: Raymond Smith of Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Harvey Garber, who died Nov. 15, 1998; two sons: Lynn Garber and Cledice Garber; one daughter and son-in-law: Kathy and Danny Hodges; parents: Rachel and Granville Smith; and two sisters: Kathleen Gass Farris and Sallie Nelson.

The body will be taken to the home, 80 Jones Street, Greeneville, on Thursday where friends may call at their convenience after 12 noon.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Zion Cemetery at Baileyton. The Rev. Bob Simpson will officiate.

Active pallbearers will be Dana Garber, Dwayne Hodges, Bobby Stapleton, Jacob Stapleton, Joshua Stapleton, and Eddie Jennings.

Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
