Ama Nelle Hankins

Ama Nelle Hankins, 89, of Snapps Ferry Road, Afton, passed away early Friday morning at Sterling House in Maryville.
Miss Hankins moved to Atlanta after receiving a business degree and worked as an executive secretary at Chrysler.
She moved to Greeneville to help care for her mother and worked for the Forestry Service as a secretary.
She was a member of Fairview Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she prepared the church bulletins.
She was an avid gardener and had a passion for the Atlanta Braves. In her early years she painted.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Mary Lucy Hankins, and a sister, Constance Hankins Lambert.
She is survived by a nephew: Jack Lambert Jr. and his wife, Debbie, and their children, Jack and Evan; a niece: Yvonne King and her husband, Gary, and their children, Lucibeth, Jim, Jennifer and Will; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews: Bo, Jack and Sam Rains, Nicholas Reckweg, MacKenzie Reynolds, Mary and Anna King, and William and Maxwell King.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Monday at Fairview Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Snapps Ferry Road.
Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery. The Rev. Ronnie Duncan and the Rev. Jim Carter will officiate.
