JOHNSON CITY -- Carl Poore, 72, of Chuckey, died Tuesday at Takoma Regional Hospital in Greeneville.
A native of Erwin, he was the son of the late Norman and Pearl Tucker Poore.
He was a retired lather, and spent much of his career working on the buildings of our nation's capital city.
Mr. Poore was a member of New Haven Church in Afton.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, F&AM. He was also a member of the Shrine.
Mr. Poore loved his bluegrass gospel music. The family would like to thank his friends in "Steel Witness" and "Cross Creek."
Survivors include his wife: Nancy Lee Poore of the home; two sons: Rick Poore and his wife, Terry, of Limestone, and Mike Poore and his wife, Laurel, of Centerville, Md.; an uncle: H.L. Lane, and an aunt: Hazel Hopson, both of Erwin; seven grandchildren: Candice Arrowood and her husband, Josh, of Limestone, Kim Kreeger and her husband, Kip, of Rheatown, Chris Poore and his wife, Jessica, of Knoxville, Jennifer Beach of Maryland, Vicki Love and her husband, Shaun, of Annapolis, Md., Kristin Walter and Samantha Matuq and her husband, Tawfeek, all of Ocean City, Md., and Allison Walter of Wilmington, Del.; and six great-grandchildren: Ty, Rider, Briden, Lola, Will, Reagan, and Khloe.
The family of Carl Poore will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Morris-Baker Funeral Home, 2001 E. Oakland Ave., Johnson City, with the funeral service following at 8 p.m. in the South Chapel. Pastor Keith Williams and Pastor Alfred Cutshall will officiate.
Family and friends will meet in Washington County Memory Gardens for an 11 a.m. committal service on Friday.
Pallbearers will be Eddie, Pat, Bill, Robbie, and Tommy Lee, and Bill Shelton.
The family expressed thanks to the many doctors and caregivers who cared for Mr. Poore, especially the doctors and staff of Takoma Regional Hospital.
