Lois Munsey Gregg, 72, of Midway, passed away Wednesday at her home.
After winning many battles and being a hero for six years, she lost the battle with cancer.
She graduated from Greeneville Business College in 1959 and had a successful business career at companies in Morristown, Southern Electronics in Mosheim, Bob Smith Construction in Greeneville, and retired from First Tennessee Bank in 2001.
She served as treasurer of the Orebank Community Center for 34 years.
She was a 46-year member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church, having served as a member of the administrative board, secretary of the administrative board, and communion steward for many years.
During retirement, she enjoyed their farm, Lonesome Pine Farms, with her husband, Willis Gregg, raising polled Hereford cattle and enjoying her flowers and bird feeders, especially the humming birds.
She loved J.R., her beloved dog, and Momma Kitty, her cat. She enjoyed trips to Florida to visit her daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Dave Grno, where they loved to go deep sea fishing and shopping.
She and Willis enjoyed the farm shows at Moultrie, Ga., many times while on their way to visit Kelly.
She is survived by her loving, caregiving husband of 53 years: Willis L. Gregg; her daughter: Kelly L. Gregg-Grno and son-in-law: David Grno, of St. Cloud, Fla.; a caregiving sister and brother-in-law: June and Ronnie Colyer of Mosheim; a dedicated sister-in-law: Norma Gregg of Mosheim; and a host of cousins and friends, who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Howard and Roxie Tweed Munsey; a brother-in-law: Jack Gray; and father-in-law and mother-in-law: C.W. and Grace Gregg.
The family expressed their thanks to Dr. Dharmen Patel, Dr. Steven Prince, Dr. Mark Patterson, the staff of Dr. Dharmen Patel, the staff of Laughlin Memorial Hospital, Robin Kirkpatrick, Brenda Key, and Amedisys Hospice Services, especially Vicki, Freda, Charity, and Anita.
Her life's motto: "It doesn't cost a thing to give a smile."
The family will receive friends from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
A celebration of life service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mosheim Central Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at 1 p.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers include Ricky Cunningham, Lowell Easterly, Bill Conduff, Adam Luttrell, Michael Knight, and Matthew Ramsey.
Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Dharmen Patel, Dr. Michael Hartsell, the Rev. John Manning, Jack Robinson, Anthony Knight, Allen Broyles, Johnny Robinson, Hal Pruitt, Dr. John Shaw, Donald Campbell, Dr. William Smead, Dr. David Jones, Charlie Knight, and Tommy Keifer.
