Edward Herbert Hoyt, 63, of Greeneville, passed away Friday at his home.
Mr. Hoyt retired as postmaster from the U.S. Post Office in Jonesborough.
He had a love of flying. He was an outstanding pilot and mechanic. He refurbished several planes throughout his lifetime.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law: Cindy Scott of Johnson City and Lisa and Jared Lippard of Jonesborough; two grandchildren: Reid Scott and Blake Lippard; four brothers and sisters-in-law: Dr. Gerald Hoyt Jr. of Perryville, Ark., Dr. Robert and Theresa Hoyt of Bowling Green, Ky., and Kenneth Hoyt and Andrew Hoyt, both of Conway, Ark.; three sisters and brothers-in-law: Carol and Don Hess of St. Louis, and Margaret and Tommy Davis and JoAnn Hoyt of Conway; his friends at the Greeneville Airport, and several special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Johanna and Gerald Hoyt Sr.; and a granddaughter: Claire Lippard.
The family expressed a special thank you to the staffs of Amedisys Hospice and Tennessee Cancer Specialist.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Sunday at Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service, Afton Chapel, with the funeral service following at 3 p.m.
Interment will be in GraceLand Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Jared Lippard, Louis Hoyt, Michael Hoyt, Stuart Hoyt, Robert Matthew Hoyt, and Bobby Allen.
