Lonnell Slagle

Died: March 16, 2013

KINGSPORT -- Lonnell Slagle, of Greene County, went to be with the Lord and reunited with loved ones at approximately 2 p.m. Saturday at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 5, 1928, in Greene County. Lonnell was loved by many and surrounded by caring neighbors.

She was preceded in death by parents, Joe and Zetta Slagle; sister, Gearldine Britton; and brother, James Newton Slagle.

Lonnell is survived by her son: Danny Ward and wife, Callie; special nephews: Ricky Peters and wife, JoAnn, and James "Junior" Slagle and friend, Tina; nieces: Darlene Manis and Barbara Norton; great-nieces: Sunshine Light and husband, Johnny, April Littleton and husband, Scottie, and Amanda Manis; great-nephews: Ricky Peters II, Dustin Manis and wife, Kasie, and Matthew Norton and wife, Nicole; and special friends: Larry Manis and Vickie Miller.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport, or other times at the home of Danny Ward.

Funeral services will follow visitation at 8 p.m. in the chapel. The Rev. Danny Willis and Pastor Wyndell Sydebothom will officiate.

Singers will be the Mount Carmel Free Will Baptist Church Choir.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Pine Grove Cemetery on the Horton Highway in Greene County.

Pallbearers will be Michael Tunnell, Allen Tunnell, Josh Smelcer, Larry Manis, Willie Slagle and Byron Snipes.

The family expressed special thanks to the staff of Church Hill Rehabilitation Center.
