Dr. Jack Duckworth

Died: March 15, 2013

ROCKWOOD -- Dr. John F. "Jack" Duckworth, age 90, of Rockwood, passed away Friday at his home.

Born Aug. 24, 1922, in Blairsville, Ga., he was a son of the late Frank C. Duckworth and Christine Jackson Duckworth.

Dr. Duckworth retired after 54 years as a veterinarian.

He was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church in Kingston, where he served as Sunday School teacher, with the tape ministry and was on the Church History Committee.

Dr. Duckworth was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge in Greeneville and in Rockwood No. 409, F&AM.

He was an avid computer and genealogist enthusiast.

Dr. Duckworth was preceded in death by his wife, Jewell Greene Duckworth; parents; and a brother: Ancel Lee Duckworth.

Survivors include: two daughters: Jackie Thompson and husband, Preston, of Milner, Ga., and Judy Simms of Harriman; two sons: Frank Duckworth of Greeneville and David Allen Greene and wife, Bonnie, of Harriman; a daughter: Margie Young and husband, Clyde, of Rockwood; his grandchildren: Jamie Payne, Jennifer Mancer, Mark Humphries, Sherry Love, and Johnny Young; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Evans Mortuary in Rockwood with the service to follow at 8 p.m. in the chapel. The Rev. Charles Kelley will officiate.

Interment and burial will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood.
