Died: March 29, 2013

The Rev. Cecil Kenneth Foster, 78, of Greeneville, passed away Friday afternoon at the Center on Aging and Health in Erwin.

He was a construction worker and a minister for many years.

Rev. Foster was a member of Lord's Tabernacle. Cecil was active in church as long as his health permitted.

He loved God and family.

Although he had lived many different places, he always considered Greeneville home.

Survivors include his wife: Lois Foster; four children: Naomi and Ed Bowen of Missouri, Earnest and Trish Foster of Texas, Rebecca and Calvin Beard of Greeneville, and Rachel and Rodney Williams of North Carolina; 15 grandchildren, including a special granddaughter: Eshaya Hamilton, and a special grandson: Tyrone Carter, both of Greeneville; several great-grandchildren; two sisters: Goldie Adams and Tilda Adams, both of Washington County; one brother: Jimmy Foster of Greeneville; and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: William Marion and Francis Foster; sister: Pearl Klepper; brothers: B. Foster, Otis Foster, Ray Foster, James Foster, Leonard Foster, John Foster, and several half-brothers and sisters.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow visitation at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Buster Shelton will officiate.

Interment will follow in Caney Creek Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Calvin Beard, William Hamilton, William Crum, Bernard Claridy, and Ed Bowen.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dendial Hollomon, and the staffs of Center on Aging in Erwin and Amedisys Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
