Died: March 31, 2013

Jimmie Harold Parton, 73, of Hillside Court, went to be with the Lord Sunday morning at his home.

He was a retired truck driver from Magnavox and Crete.

Mr. Parton was a member of Victory Church of God.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his wife: Loretta "Punchie" Parton; one son: Jamie Parton and his fiancée, Rebekah Williams; his faithful companion: his dog, Max; three sisters and brothers-in-law: Phyllis and Darmon Carter, Debbie and Bob Cooper, and Becky and Ricky Gentry, and one brother and sister-in-law: Steve and Barbara Parton, all of Greene County; one half-brother and half-sister: Tim Parton and Vickie Hall; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the son of the late Elmer Parton and Marjorie Parton and was preceded in death by his grandparents: George and Pearlie Ricker and Lilly Parton Hux; niece: Robin Carter; and several aunts and uncles.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. today at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 7 p.m. in the chapel. The Rev. Jim Fillers will officiate.

Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to GreeneLawn Memory Gardens for the committal service at noon.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Smith, Jimmy Duncan, Sammy Fugate, Ray Holbart, Jerry Williams, Cline Everhart, and Samuel "Boo" Fugate.

The family expressed a special thanks to the staff of Amedisys Home Health Care and Hospice, Dr. Michael Hartsell and staff, Dr. James Evans and staff, and to a very special friend, Wayne Smith.
