Mary Kate "Tommie" Carter

Died: April 15, 2013

Mary Kate "Tommie" Carter, 95, of Cherokee Estates, Greeneville, passed away Monday evening at Laughlin Healthcare Center.

Mrs. Carter retired from Southern Electronics and was a lifetime member of Bales Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law: Wayne and Louise Carter of Greeneville; two grandchildren: Renee' and Craig Wilkerson of Mosheim and John Wayne and Danielle Carter of Greeneville; three great-grandchildren: Chaston Young and husband, Andrew, of Greeneville, John Wayne Carter Jr., and Addison Kate Carter, all of Greeneville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husband: George Russell Carter; parents: Frank and Della Casteel Cox; three brothers: Robert, Guy, and Dick Cox; two sisters: Stella Jones and Bonnie Wade; and a special niece: Sue Cox.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:30 p.m. on Thursday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Doughty-Stevens Chapel. The Rev. Dixie J. Miller and the Rev. Homer Roller will officiate.

Family and friends are asked to meet at Cross Anchor Cemetery at 10 a.m. Friday for the committal service.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Cox, Joe Elliot Harmon, and Elijah Lee Chapman.
