Died: May 2, 2013

Reda J. Knight, 100, of Sandy Springs, Ga., formerly of the Pilot Knob community, passed away Thursday at Halcyon Hospice in Atlanta, Ga., after a very brief illness.

Mrs.. Knight was a member of North Springs United Methodist Church.

She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She was known for her gentle loving spirit and was a beloved friend to many.

Mrs. Knight had recently formed a special friendship with Ms. Martha Smith, who would visit her every Wednesday. Ms. Reda started affectionately referring to Wednesdays as Martha's Day.

Survivors include: one daughter: Joyce Knight Weems of Sandy Springs, Ga.; three grandchildren and their spouses: Lisa Hawkins of Sandy Springs, Ga., Jason and Sharon Weems of Johnson City, and Amy and Phil Bentley of Kingsport; 10 great-grandchildren: Cody and wife, Claudia Estes, Chesney Estes, Caleb Estes, Catrina Bentley, Gavin Bentley, Rachel Bentley, Quinntin Bentley, Logan Hawkins, Mason Hawkins, and Madeline Weems; a great-great-grandson: Calvin Estes; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Walter Knight; brother and sisters: Verdie Burnette, Lester Myers, Nettie Wright, Walter Myers, Hobart "Bill" Myers, Clara Myers, Minis Myers, and Joshua Myers.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. today at Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service, downtown.

The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Pilot Knob Cumberland Presbyterian Church with interment in Pilot Knob Cemetery. The Rev. Richard Snowden and the Rev. Howard Shipley will officiate.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
