Died: June 25, 2013

Ruby Nell Malone, age 92, of Greeneville, passed away Tuesday morning at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and Johnny Bill Britton.

She was the oldest member of Union Free Will Baptist Church, where she attended as long as her health permitted.

Mrs. Malone retired from MECO Inc. after several years of service.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, and she will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Her family stated she was saved at an early age and loved the Lord and her church family.

In addition to her daughter and son-in-law, she is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Mike and Phyllis Malone of Texas; grandchildren and spouses: Terry and Michael Shelton, Cindy and Chris Morrison, Michelle Britton and fiancé, Mike West, David Malone, Jimmy and Kim "Kritter" Malone, Charity and Will Vogt, and Amanda Shelton; great-grandchildren: Mickey Bowman, Jonathan and Mandy Morrison, Erica Cooter, Hannah and Shawn Wingerter, Sarah and Thatcher Vogt, Taylor Malone, Cassie and Chase Shelton, Jacob and Ricky Malone, and Ondreea and Breanna Shelton; great-great-grandchildren: Caleb and Tucker Brown, and Jackson and Benjamin Morrison; several nieces and nephews; and a special pet, her beloved dog: Mimzi.

Mrs. Malone was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years: Omer Malone; her parents: Bordie and Elsie (Luster) Thomason; brothers: John, Junior, and Hugh Thomason; sisters: Lucille Harmon, Dorothy Jones, Mary Branch, and Cora Vernie Thomason.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home with funeral services following visitation at 8 p.m. in the chapel. The Rev. Oscar McAmis and the Rev. Mike Hensley will officiate.

Family and friends will meet at Doughty-Stevens at 9:45 a.m. Friday to go in procession to Cross Anchor Cemetery for the 10:30 a.m. committal service.

Pallbearers will be David and Jimmy Malone, Michael Shelton, Chris Morrison, Mike West, and Will Vogt.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mickey Brown, Jonathan Morrison, Thatcher Vogt, Chase Shelton, Cecil Malone, Raymond Cooter, Jerry Jones, and Dr. Joe Austin.

The family expressed thanks to Amedisys Hospice for all the tender, loving care that was given to Mrs. Malone over the last six months and to Chaplain David Snyder for all his visits and his prayers.
