Mable Shaffer Gammon

Died: June 25, 2013

Mable Shaffer Gammon, 86, of the North Greene community, passed away Tuesday at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.

She was a homemaker.

She attended Brittontown Church and Union Church as long as her health permitted.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law: the Rev. Troy and Joyce Gammon; two daughters and a son-in-law: Judy and Steve Alsup and Janice Johnson; four grandchildren: April Alsup, Susan Hipsher and husband, Keith, Amy Johnson, and Lynne Griffin and husband, Bert; great-grandchildren: McKenzie Wagner, Brooklyn Hipsher, Chelsea Gunter, Dustin Newton, Amanda Johnson, and Kristen Newton; great-great-grandchildren: Brooklyn Johnson, Gracie Hagan, Tatyem Newton, Declan Newton, and Kayden Morgan; a sister and brother-in-law: Dorothy and William Olson; sisters-in-law: Irene Morrison and Jerry Shaffer; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the daughter of the late Carroll Lee and Kate Shaffer and was preceded in death by her husband: Elmer Gammon; brothers: Cornelius, Roger, Gomer, Hal, Charles, and Carroll Shaffer; and sisters: Maxine Wagner, Jessie Missing and Betty June Shaffer.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 8 p.m. in the chapel. The Rev. Troy Gammon and the Rev. Gary Gass will officiate.

Family and friends will meet at 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home to go in procession to Hardin's Chapel Cemetery for a 10 a.m. committal service.

Family and friends will be pallbearers.

The family extended a special thanks to the Greeneville-Greene County EMS, the staff of Laughlin Memorial Hospital, and Dr. Joseph Scott and staff.
