Died: June 25, 2013

Ethel Belcher, age 95, of Greeneville, a housewife, passed away Tuesday evening at Laughlin HealthCare Center.

She was born Nov. 21, 1917, in Greene County, a daughter of the late Charlie and Hattie Fortner Brown.

She had attended Greeneville First Free Will Baptist Church and was a member of East Greene Free Will Baptist Church, where she attended as long as her health permitted.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.

The family stated that "she is in the loving arms of her precious Savior whom she loved to serve."

Survivors include one daughter: Margie Smith; one daughter-in-law: Sandra Belcher; two granddaughters and spouses: Tammy and the Rev. Tim Farris and Jeania and Greg Luttrell; grandson-in-law: Tim Hawk; four great-granddaughters: Tara Ricker, Cara Farris, Cayla Farris, and Caylee Luttrell; two great-great-granddaughters: Tana Ricker and Emily King; two stepgreat-grandchildren: Timmy and Kim Hawk, and Amy Wolfert; five stepgreat-great-grandchildren: Eli Harley, Abby Wolfert, Noah Hawk, Ashlyn Parks, and Benjamin Parks; two sisters-in-law: Sue Ella Renner and Betty Belcher; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years: Paul E. Belcher, who died August 11, 2010; one son: Carroll Belcher; granddaughter: Brenda Hawk; son-in-law: John Smith; four brothers: John Brown, the Rev. Joe Brown, Luther Brown, and Herman Brown; four sisters: Josephine Brown, Mary Babb, Nola Armitage, and Lula Reynolds; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law: George and Eula Belcher.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Doughty-Stevens Chapel. The Rev. Doyle Pruett, the Rev. Tim Farris, and the Rev. Ted Reynolds will officiate. Interment will follow in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Junior Burchell, Dylan Renner, Tim Hawk, Greg Luttrell, Denny Franklin, Everette Phillips, and J.C. Clark.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Luttrell, Richard Bishop, Charles Greene, Billy Noland, Tere Ricker, Denny Renner, Carlton Crock, Donnie Belcher, Mike Belcher, Rick Belcher, and the staff of the East Wing of Laughlin HealthCare Center.
