Died: June 28, 2013

Wendy Lee Wakefield, 48, of Kingsport and formerly of Greeneville, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly at her home on Friday.

She was born July 16, 1964, in Herkimer, N.Y.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

Most of her life she worked in customer service.

She volunteered with the American Red Cross in Mohawk Valley, N.Y.

Wendy enjoyed cooking and spending time with family.

Survivors include her husband of 30 years: Henry Wakefield of the home; three daughters: Stephanie Wakefield of Clarksville, and Kendra Story and Samantha Wakefield of the home; a very special granddaughter: Zoey Wakefield of the home; her mother and father: Robert and Marian Martin of Little Falls, N.Y.; two brothers and three sisters of New York; four nieces and several great-nephews of New York and Tennessee; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law of New York.

She was preceded in death by her brother: Tim Martin; mother-in-law: Jean Darling; and nephew: Anthony Darling.

She is being cremated. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. today at Christ Chapel of First Presbyterian Church on North Main Street.

Dr. Dan Donaldson will officiate.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 4-6 p.m. today in the church chapel.

Jeffers Funeral & Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
